No I am not selling veggies in this post 😉 In-fact, I am here to enlighten all of you some awesome DIY hacks, which I am sure you must be knowing already BUT I thought why not share some tips that I love and that give instant results too. Hence I am sharing my 5 DIY Skin Care Hacks Straight From The Kitchen 🙂
Happy Reading!! Let’s go…
Now before we start I would like to mention here that these tips I have personally used on myself and they have worked for me wonderfully BUT these may not suit you. So, always check your skin type and choose products accordingly.
1. TOMATO
This anti-oxidant rich goodness is packed with Vitamins A & C. This is great for using as a skin mask to achieve bright and luminous complexion. For sun tanned skin: use the juice of tomato and apply to affected area for 20 minutes or so. Then rinse with cold water. Use this every other day till you see a difference in your skin color.
2. CURD
Another super food, great as a healthy snack and an excellent source of protein. Curd contains lactic acid which is great for skin exfoliation. Lactic acid basically eats the dead skin cells away from the face, whilst leaving behind a smooth and clean canvas to admire.
I remember quite fondly how before going somewhere important, I used to slather my face with natural curd and wait for 10 to 15 minutes before either wiping it off with cotton pads or washing my face with cold water. And my skin literally glowed. The skin looked clean, clear, healthy and super nourished. And there was no need for moisturising either as the natural oils in curd would make my skin supple and nourished.
You can use curd in numerous ways. If you search on the internet you would come up with a gazillion recipes for face, body and even hair that uses curd as its base ingredient. So what are you waiting for? Start right now..and you can thank me later 😉 No, seriously I am not sharing any recipe here as you can find tons online BUT the way I used to use it was very simple, I just used 2 to 3 TBSP and slathered on my face, waited and then rinsed off. Simple. Or sometimes I used to add honey. Try it and let me know your thoughts on it 🙂
3. ICE
Super easy, super basic yet oh so effective…icing. Not on the cake, but on your face 🙂 And it’s so soothing too, specially in summers when it’s sweltering hot and humid and we produce natural reserves of oil from each and every pore visible on our face, icing comes to the rescue.
You can even use an ice-cube directly on your face, but lets leave these extreme stunts for the bold and brave at heart 😉 Ideally take a soft muslin cloth, wrap it around an ice-cube and apply it to the face all over. Apply it till the time the ice melts completely. If you feel some sort of numbing, wait 10 seconds or so and then start again. This is a great hack for shrinking the pores and somehow I have observed if I prep my skin with icing before applying makeup, somehow the makeup stays put longer and looks fresh. How cool is that? 🙂 Try it if you haven’t already 😉
4. CUCUMBERS
This one’s a no-brainer. I know, you all know it and so do I BUT its great to revisit again and refresh our memories. Cucumbers are an inexpensive yet excellent source for beauty and food. Specially for diet conscious/healthy eaters this is a super awesome salad component.
For beauty you can cut up thin cucumber slices and put them on your closed peepers to relax for 20 minutes or so. This makes the tired eyes look awake and fresh.
Another great trick is to use them as a skin toner. For that you can either use the juice of a cucumber or cut up thin slices and rub them all over your face and neck. Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash it off with cold water. Fresh and glowing skin is revealed 🙂
5. EGG WHITE
I personally love this one the most as this hack yielded excellent results on me. Girls who suffer from open pores or who have oily or combination skin, should benefit from this hack the most.
Take an egg white of one egg and apply it on your face. Let it air dry. When it dries down completely, it becomes impossible to talk. Wash it off when it completely dries. You will notice your pores instantly shrunk. YES. I don’t know what sorcery this is, at least my skin does look poreless after using an egg white on my skin. You can even mix honey if you like but I like using it as it is.
Though be forewarned, your husband/boyfriend/partner should not be in the room ’cause he won’t like the stink 😉
So, there you have my most used and favorite hacks from the kitchen. These are super easy and simple and you basically need these things which are ALWAYS lying around in our kitchen or fridge. Have fun playing with them 😉
Let me know if you try out any of these hacks or would you like me to do more such posts?
