Current Nighttime Skincare Routine

I love skincare. More than makeup, skincare intrigues and interests me the most. If a product suits me just fine, I usually stick to it for a long time till I come across another promising product that will cater to my skin’s needs. Today’s post is a followup of another post I did a week or so ago about my current skin care routine Morning edition.

In today’s post I shall be sharing with you all my current night-time skin care routine. I don’t follow an elaborate routine BUT I do try to incorporate all the steps necessary for maintaining a healthy skin by cleansing and nourishing it. Following a good skin care routine is VERY important. Starting early helps a lot. Some important points to remember:

  1. Always listen to your skin.
  2. If some product is working for another doesn’t necessarily means it will work for you too.
  3. Don’t follow skin care trends blindly.
  4. Switch up your routine according to your needs and seasons.
  5. Invest in some good anti-aging serum and oils to use at night.

Night time skin care routine should ideally be given more importance and time. Give it a little more TLC. Because when we sleep at night, skin-cell renewal is faster. It is also said that collagen boosts while we sleep at night.

My skin type is combination, that is T-zone is oily and cheeks are normal. From the past couple of months it has also morphed into blemish and acne prone skin unfortunately ?  I always listen to my skin. If someday it is feeling congested, I treat it with a good charcoal mask either Glamglow Supermud Cleanse or The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask

I Shall talk about my favorite facial masks in another post ?

So, enough with the intro, let’s get into the real deal ?

STEP 1: CLEANSING

For summers I like to use a water based cleanser preferably a micellar cleansing water. During winters I switch it up with either a cream or an oil based cleanser. I don’t wear makeup daily, but even if I have to I choose to wear minimal makeup comprising mostly of a translucent powder, lipstick, bronzer and a blush. SPF is a must for me as my skin has pigmentation. To take all this off at night, I do cleanse my face firstly by using makeup wipes and then I follow with my cleanser. Currently I am using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water.

STEP 2: EXFOLIATION

My holy grail PIXI GLOW TONICI have raved about this product in so many of my posts. I simply can’t get over this stuff. I like using this tonic/toner at night everyday religiously. It has 5% glycolic acid which aids in skin exfoliation. This has aloe vera and ginseng which helps to soothe the skin. This tonic exfoliates and brightens the skin surface. It acts both as a toner and exfoliator.

I have been using the Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment. On nights when I use this product I don’t use the pixi glow tonic. This product has Lactic Acid as a chemical exfoliant. It is said to help in diminishing sun spots over time. I mostly use this when I feel my skin is looking too dull and lack lustre. One important rule of thumb to remember when using these chemical exfoliants is to always wear a sunblock, as they tend to make the skin more susceptible to sun damage due to skin resurfacing. This is an expensive product, its best to purchase a sample sized first to try if it works for your skin. Then go for the real deal.

STEP 3: EYE CREAM

For night-time I opt for a heavy under eye cream. Right now I am using the Loreal Revistalist Eye CreamThis is a pretty good eye cream to use. Its great for hydration and smoothing the under eye area.

STEP4: SERUM

This is my current favorite face serum. The MISSHA Time Revolution Night Time Repair Ampoule is basically supposed to be used before a serum as it’s an ampoule. Ampoules are more potent as compared to a serum. They have a higher concentration of active ingredients added to help with the restorative and repairing property. A little goes a long way with these.

I use this every night. This makes my skin extremely soft, supple and luminous. And as its pretty hot and humid at the moment, I don’t follow this with a moisturizer. This gives my skin an excellent dose of hydration.

STEP5: NECK CREAM

The last step in my night skin care routine is applying a good neck cream. Currently I am using the Loreal REVITALIFT Face, contours and Neck cream. I take a little on my ring fingers and apply on my neck using upward strokes. I let the cream absorb in my skin then proceed on to my lip balm ?

So there you have my current routine for night. It’s not very elaborate but it does the job perfectly for my skin’s needs at the moment. This is my everyday routine but when I have to take off a full face of makeup then I follow a different skin care regime. Would you be interested in knowing it?

Hope you enjoyed this post.
