Borderline Skincare fanatic, best describes me 😉 As I grow older, I am getting deeply interested in all things skincare. I like makeup but I LOVE skincare. My goal this year for my skin is to let it breathe more and cake it less. And to achieve such results, I have come across some awesome products that are aiding me in my quest for beautiful skin 🙂
Lets get some basics out of the way. To start off, I have combination skin with my T zone being oily and my cheeks being normal to dry. I have pigmentation around my lips and some spots on my cheeks. Hence I am forever on a quest to find products that would help me get rid of those pesky sun spots and lighten my pigmented areas whilst making my skin look super smooth and glow-y.
Most of our woes, where skin is concerned can be taken care off, if we eat a well balanced diet focusing more on fruits and veggies and less on processed/packaged stuff. But if this was so simple, we would all have that super luminous skin. This is why these products are like your best friend that will never disappoint you.
I test out quite a lot of products #lifeofabeautyblogger and I do come across some amazing stuff. But I only share the ones that work great on my skin and those I can rely on 100%. Lets start with the products I was hooked on or were a staple this past year. Lets do this…
You need this in your life. I have gone through numerous bottles of this magic potion. It’s simple yet works wonders for the skin. I have done a detailed post on this product. But here let me share some key facts about this product and why I love it so much.
WHAT IS IT?
It is an exfoliating toner for the skin. It contains 5% Glycolic Acid, Ginseng and Aloe Vera. Glycolic acid exfoliates and stimulates skin turnover, Aloe Vera heals and soothes and Ginseng energizes and renews complexion.
WHAT IT DOES?
It helps in exfoliating the dead skin layer sitting on the skin. The aloe-vera soothes the skin and ginseng helps in maintaining the skin brightness. It is free of alcohol and oil. Suitable to use for all skin types.
WHY I AM HOOKED
Simply put, my skin looks so much better since I included this in my regime. I notice a visible difference in the texture and brightness of my skin if I stop using this. My skin becomes lifeless. It is gentle enough to be used everyday. But I use this as part of my night time skin routine.
I always use SPF 50 in the mornings after I use this at night. As it contains Glycolic acid which is a chemical exfoliant, the skin becomes sensitive to sun exposure. Best is to use sun screen every day.
This comes in different sizes ranging from 15MLS, 250MLS and 100MLS. They also have Glow Tonic To-Go pads, which are very travel friendly. This has become a staple in my beauty regime, one that I plan to continue using.
2. SKIN FOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash off
Skin like a baby’s butt is possible whilst using this gem of a mask/scrub. Korean people know their skin and their skincare game is always on point. Trying this mask out, I fell hard and fast for it. It is genuinely very good. Some key points:
WHAT IT IS?
SKINFOOD Black sugar wash off mask is an exfoliating mask with organic black sugar granules aimed at exfoliating and nourishing the skin.
WHAT IT DOES?
This mask exfoliates the skin to reveal soft and smooth skin without drying the skin out. The skin looks soft, supple and clean.
WHY I AM HOOKED?
My skin looks beautiful the next day. It glows like a 100 watt bulb. No kidding!!! Dead skin goes right out of the window. Poof!! and its gone. What is left behind is soft, supple, clean and extremely bright skin which practically looks pore-less and spotless -almost 😉
3. SUNDAY RILEY GOOD GENES LACTIC ACID TREATMENT
I got this little sample sized tube along with some purchases I did from an online Makeup page. This is practically a genie in a bottle. It is a chemical exfoliant treatment aimed at making the skin look vibrant and younger looking.
WHAT IT IS?
This is a Lactic Acid based product. It is more like a treatment for the skin suffering from dullness, clogged pores and sun spots.
WHAT IT DOES?
This treatment exfoliates the skin surface deeply removing dull cells. The skin looks younger, brighter and smooth. It visibly brightens the skin. It also plumps fine lines and wrinkles.
WHY I AM HOOKED
I can personally vouch for the amazing result this treatment garners on my skin. Put it on the night before and the morning after, skin looks like an even canvas. Bright, even and smooth. The lactic acid goes deep in the skin surface and works to uncover a clearer complexion. It says that with consistent use, it works to diminish the stubborn dark spots on the skin.
Though I am not a fan of its smell 🙁 But who’s complaining if it is delivering stupendously 🙂 Girls with sensitive skin kindly try the sample size one first, then go for the normal size one as this treatment is pricey.
4. THE BODY SHOP HIMALAYAN CHARCOAL PURIFYING GLOW MASK
Girls with problem skin, make this mask your best friend. Because I have made this so 😉 Whenever my skin is feeling congested or I see a pesky little pimple raising its ugly head, I reach for this jar of goodness.
WHAT THIS IS?
This is a purifying charcoal glow mud mask. Excellent for problematic skin suffering from acne and blemishes. It is ideal for combination and oily skin people. It is packed with bamboo charcoal from the Himalayan foot hills, green tea leaves from Japan and Tea Tree oil from Kenya.
WHAT THIS DOES?
It draws out excess oils and impurities, while exfoliating the skin. The skin looks clear, more youthful and healthy.
WHY I AM HOOKED
The biggest difference I noticed was that if my skin was feeling clogged and congested, it greatly helped with that. My pimples seem to diminish and dry out when I use this mask. I would even go on to say that it is an excellent and cheaper dupe to the Glamglow supermud clearing treatment.
5. KIEHL’S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE
I tried the sample of this serum a bit apprehensively just because applying oils on my face doesn’t impress me much. But to my pleasant surprise I adored this serum/oil.
WHAT THIS IS?
A concentrated face serum with having key ingredients like Lavender Essential Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Squalane. This is made to restore the skin suppleness and elasticity and repairing the skin from pollution.
WHY I AM HOOKED
I am already planning to buy the full sized version of this. My skin looks better if I use this at night. Soft, supple and plumped up. Also it makes the skin look noticeably brighter. Why wouldn’t I love it? Its super duper awesome 🙂
